Lea Rizer - 2014 Casal Aveda Graduate and Signature Stylist
After earning her degree in Psychology at Ohio University and her Cosmetology license from Casal Aveda Institute, Lea Rizer jumped into the assistant program at Ladies and Gentlemen Salon and Spa, soon becoming one of their full-time stylists.
Three years later, Lea has not only judged two scholarship shows, but now helps other Aveda students through the internship program, working one-on-one with the upcoming stylists to provide them with salon experience.
From growing up helping friends with hair and makeup, to professionally styling fiery, funky textures and glamorous wedding updos, we caught up with Lea to ask about her accomplishments:
Why do you love what you do?
There's something special about changing someone's perspective about themselves and how they feel. I like making someone feel better as a part of their daily life. Whether it's a three-week touch-up or their wedding day, it makes them feel good and I love it.
How did your Aveda experience impact where you are now?
I always knew I wanted to be better, and when I found Aveda I fell in love with their mission and everything they stand for. I am a self-proclaimed hippie, so with their conservation efforts and everything else, I just love what they do. It brought me to Cleveland, and I'm still with Aveda and love everyone there.
Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?
In the best way possible, you don't know everything you think you do, so be open to learning new things. There's going to be good days and bad days, so always take advice, even if you don't think you need it, and always be open.
