On Sunday, April 15, family and friends arrived at Mill Creek MetroParks in Youngstown to witness the talent and brilliance of this year's Scholarship Competition and Earth Month Fashion Show.
Angela Paiano - Cosmetology Scholarship Winner
Held at the The D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center, Casal Aveda Institute awarded a full paid scholarship for their Cosmetology and Esthetics programs, launching exciting careers for two future industry artists.
Jessica DuPonty - Esthetics Scholarship Winner
Having no prior training and a chance at full tuition and fees, contestants arrived early at the Casal Aveda Institute prepared to create their best work. Bringing all of their own supplies and products, entrants were given 2.5 hours to make over their chosen model, without any shampooing, coloring, or cutting.
The judging panel of stylists, salon owners, and alumni professionals considered each participant's overall look, before-and-after transformation, and submitted essay.
The Cosmetology Contest focused on the best look for hair style and makeup, while the Esthetics Contest focused on the best makeup application.
This year, we are happy to congratulate Angela Paiano for taking home the Cosmetology award, and Jessica DuPonty for winning the Esthetics scholarship!

Admission costs also allowed us to support our commitment to this year's Earth Month Fund in partnership with the Sierra Club, combining our passion for fashion and environmental sustainability into one unforgettable afternoon.
